AEO & GEO Tracking and Strategy
AI Search Visibility Tracking for Law Firms
See where your firm appears in AI answers. Know what deserves attention next.
Waybound’s AEO & GEO Tracking and Strategy service helps you understand how AI answer engines mention and cite your firm, how you compare with selected competitors, and where your marketing team should focus. You get a baseline, recurring visibility reporting, and prioritized recommendations tied to your practice areas and markets.
Answer engine optimization (AEO) and generative engine optimization (GEO) are overlapping approaches to how a business is represented in AI-generated answers. Our tracking service measures your firm’s visibility in sampled answers and gives your team direction for the work ahead.
Tracking and strategy, with implementation scoped separately.

The evidence
What we track
A useful report starts with a useful set of questions. We build and manage prompts around your firm’s services, markets, and priorities, then examine the answers those prompts return.
- Firm visibility: how often your firm is mentioned in the tracked answers.
- Competitor visibility: how selected firms appear across the same tracked questions.
- Citations and sources: the websites and pages cited in answers, including your own content where it appears.
- Practice-area and market differences: where the tracked topics and locations show stronger coverage or gaps.
- Movement over time: changes against the baseline and earlier reporting periods, with context when the tracked questions change.
Coverage across AI answer engines
The service uses Peec AI for tracking across ChatGPT, Google AI Overview, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity, and Microsoft Copilot.
We confirm current engine availability and the questions, markets, and competitors in scope during onboarding. Coverage can change as platforms change their access or features.
Measurement note: These reports describe sampled answers to the questions we track. They do not capture every answer a prospective client sees, and visibility does not establish a lead, signed matter, or revenue result.
From baseline to monthly priorities
What’s included
Your starting point
Intake, a technical readiness review, competitor research, Peec AI license and configuration, prompt-set development, and baseline analysis. The first month establishes your Baseline Report and Action Plan.
Monthly visibility report
An AI Search Visibility Report showing your firm’s presence, competitor comparisons, and changes worth reviewing. Location Visibility Reporting is included where multiple markets are tracked.
Prioritized action plan
Recommendations that give your team a practical next step, with owners and due dates. Reports are supplied in editable Word format so the findings can move into your working plan.
Monthly optimization review
A review of the findings and recommended priorities, so your team can decide what to address next. Prompt and competitor tracking are managed as the engagement continues.
Scope made clear
Tracking gives the work direction
Tracking and strategy
This service measures visibility, examines the answers and sources, and recommends what to prioritize. It is a fit when your firm has an internal team or marketing partner ready to carry out the work.
Implementation
Writing or updating content, changing website structure, making technical fixes, and carrying out other action items require implementation work. That work is not included in the tracking service and is quoted separately.
Before starting, we confirm who will implement the recommendations: your team, your current vendor, or a separately scoped implementation partner. If your firm needs both reporting and hands-on support, we can discuss that in the consultation.
A repeatable process
How the engagement works
Define the questions
Start with your practice areas, target markets, competitors, and growth priorities. Agree on the prompt set and the people who will use the findings.
Establish the baseline
Configure tracking and collect the initial answer data. Review your starting position and identify the first priorities.
Review the changes
Use recurring reports to compare visibility, cited sources, and market-level findings. Changes to the prompt set are called out so a measurement change is not mistaken for a performance gain.
Choose the next actions
Turn the findings into a prioritized plan for the people doing the implementation. Review progress and refine the questions as your firm’s priorities evolve.
AI answers vary; a sample is a point-in-time observation. Tracking alone does not establish causation, guarantee inclusion, or prove leads or revenue.
Questions before you start
AI visibility tracking questions, answered
What does AEO mean?
AEO stands for Answer Engine Optimization. It concerns how a business is represented in AI-generated answers. Our tracking service measures that representation for an agreed set of questions and provides recommendations for the team responsible for improvements.
What is the difference between AEO and GEO?
Answer engine optimization (AEO) focuses on how a business appears in answers from answer engines. Generative engine optimization (GEO) emphasizes answers produced by generative AI. The terms overlap in AI search: both concern how your firm is represented, mentioned, and cited. This service tracks sampled answers and recommends priorities; the terminology does not change the agreed scope or guarantee results.
How is AEO tracking different from SEO reporting?
SEO reporting examines your presence in search results. AEO tracking examines the answers generated for the prompts in scope, including whether your firm is mentioned and which sources are cited. The two can inform the same marketing plan, but their metrics should be reviewed separately.
Do you make the recommended changes for us?
Implementation is not included in the tracking service. Your internal team or existing vendor can carry out the recommendations, or we can discuss separately scoped implementation support.
How often will we receive reports?
The AI Visibility Tracking offer includes monthly visibility reporting, a monthly action plan, and a monthly optimization review. The first month focuses on onboarding, configuration, and your baseline.
Can you track more than one location or practice area?
We build the prompt set around the agreed scope. Location Visibility Reporting is included when multiple markets are tracked. Your proposal defines the practice areas, markets, competitors, and tracking scope before work begins.
Will tracking guarantee that AI recommends our firm?
No. Tracking provides evidence and direction; it does not control an answer engine’s responses. We do not guarantee rankings, mentions, citations, leads, or a particular improvement timeline.
Does the report show how much revenue came from AI search?
AI visibility is a separate measure from website visits, inquiries, and collected revenue. Establishing those outcomes requires appropriate analytics, intake records, and attribution checks. A mention or citation alone is not proof that someone became a client.
What does AI visibility tracking cost?
We confirm pricing, onboarding, term, and scope in a written proposal. Book a consultation to discuss your firm’s markets, current marketing support, and the questions you want answered.
